Shopify Store Inspector Extension - Privacy Policy

This policy covers the “Shopify Store Inspector” Chrome extension published by Victoria Garland Creative Inc. It is written to be short because the extension is built to collect as little as possible.
The short version. The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything it does happens locally in your browser.
What the extension accesses. When you click the extension icon on a tab, the extension reads the HTML markup of that single, currently active page. It uses that markup, entirely on your device, to detect whether the site runs on Shopify, which theme and apps it uses, and how its on-page SEO is set up. The extension only runs when you click it, and only on the tab you are viewing.
What leaves your browser. Nothing. The markup is analyzed in memory inside the extension and the results are shown to you. The page content is never sent to Victoria Garland Creative, to Google, or to any third party. No copy of it is saved.
Data storage. The extension does not use browser storage, cookies, or any external database. Closing the popup discards the analysis.
Permissions and why they exist. The extension requests only two permissions. “activeTab” grants temporary access to the current tab, and only at the moment you click the icon, so it can read that page. “scripting” lets the extension run its one-time reader on that tab to collect the markup. The extension does not request broad access to all websites and does not run in the background.
Third parties. The extension bundles no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking code. It makes no network requests of its own.
Links to our website. The extension contains links to victoriagarland.ca. If you choose to click them, our website’s standard privacy practices apply, described in our main privacy policy at /legal/.
Children. The extension is a professional tool for merchants and developers and is not directed at children.
Changes. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
