Shopify NetSuite Integration
Orders, inventory, fulfillment, and refunds kept in step between Shopify and NetSuite. Built with retries and monitoring, so finance stops re-keying and the warehouse stops guessing.
- Orders to sales orders
- Inventory by location
- Fulfillment and tracking
- Refunds and credit memos
- Customers and companies
- B2B price levels
NetSuite is where your finance and operations teams live. Shopify is where your customers buy. When the two don’t talk, someone re-keys orders by hand, inventory drifts until you oversell, and month-end turns into a reconciliation project.
We’re a Shopify-focused agency with 14+ years on the platform, and we build the connection between the two as real software, not a script. It ships with retries, idempotent writes, and a sync log your team can read, because what matters is not the demo. It’s what happens when a webhook times out at 2am and nobody is watching.
What Syncs Between Shopify and NetSuite
Every account is configured differently, so we map yours before we quote. These are the flows most merchants need.
Orders
Shopify orders become NetSuite sales orders or cash sales, with line items, discounts, shipping, and taxes mapped to the right items and accounts. Payment and gateway details come across so finance can reconcile deposits without opening Shopify.
Inventory
Available quantities flow from NetSuite to Shopify by location, so each Shopify location reflects the right warehouse. We handle the timing carefully, since a slow inventory sync is how stores oversell during a promotion.
Fulfillment and tracking
When the warehouse fulfills in NetSuite, the item fulfillment updates the Shopify order with carrier and tracking, and the customer gets the shipping notification. Partial shipments and split fulfillments are handled rather than ignored.
Refunds and returns
Shopify refunds create the matching credit memos or return authorizations, so revenue in NetSuite matches what actually happened in the store.
Customers and B2B
Customer records, and for wholesale, companies with their price levels and payment terms. This pairs with our Shopify B2B and wholesale setup when your trade customers order through Shopify.
Connector or Custom Build
We’ll tell you honestly which one you need. Off-the-shelf connectors work well when your NetSuite account is close to standard and your order flow is simple. They cost less and someone else maintains them.
A custom integration earns its cost when the connector’s fixed mapping stops fitting:
- Multiple subsidiaries or locations with rules about which one an order belongs to.
- Custom records, fields, or forms your team depends on and the connector ignores.
- B2B pricing and terms that live in NetSuite and have to reach Shopify intact.
- Business rules in the sync, such as holds, routing, bundles, or kit items.
- Volume, where the connector falls behind or hits NetSuite’s concurrency limits.
If a connector is the right answer, we can set it up and configure it properly. If it isn’t, we build.
Why NetSuite Integrations Fail
Most failures share a cause: the sync has no memory and no way to tell you it stopped. A replayed webhook creates a duplicate sales order. A timeout drops an order on the floor. Nobody notices until a customer asks where their package is.
So we build the boring parts. Writes are idempotent, so the same event processed twice produces one record. Transient failures retry with backoff. Every record has a visible status, so your team can see what synced, what didn’t, and why. We build on Gadget.dev, which provides the background jobs and managed infrastructure this work needs.

FAQs
Should we use a connector app or a custom NetSuite integration?
Start by checking whether a connector fits. If your NetSuite account is close to standard and your order flow is simple, a well-supported connector is cheaper and we will tell you so. Custom earns its cost when you have multiple subsidiaries or locations, custom records and fields, B2B pricing, or business rules a connector's fixed mapping cannot express. Many of the projects we see start as a connector that was pushed past what it was designed for.
Which system should own inventory and pricing?
Usually NetSuite owns inventory and cost, and Shopify owns the storefront presentation. Pricing varies: some merchants manage retail prices in Shopify and wholesale price levels in NetSuite. We settle ownership per field during mapping, because two systems that both think they own a number is the most common cause of sync conflicts.
Does the sync need to be real-time?
Inventory and order creation usually need to be close to real-time so you do not oversell and the warehouse sees orders promptly. Financial records, catalog changes, and customer updates are often fine on a schedule. NetSuite also has API concurrency limits, so we design around them with queues rather than sending everything at once.
Can you take over a NetSuite integration that keeps failing?
Yes. We start with a short audit: what is failing, how often, and why. The usual causes are missing retries, no idempotency (so a replayed webhook creates a duplicate sales order), and no visibility into what did not sync. Sometimes stabilizing what exists is enough. Sometimes a clean rebuild costs less than another year of patching.
How much does a Shopify NetSuite integration cost?
It depends on how many record types move, how customized your NetSuite account is, and how much business logic sits in the sync. A single well-defined flow usually starts in the low five figures. Multi-subsidiary accounts with B2B pricing and returns handling cost more. We quote a fixed number after mapping, before any code runs.
