Shopify Migration Agency

Replatforming is the highest-stakes project most stores ever run. Done well, you keep your traffic, your customers, and your revenue while gaining a platform that’s cheaper to run. Done badly, you lose rankings and orders for months. The difference is almost always in the planning, not the import.

We’re a Shopify-focused agency with 14+ years on the platform, and migrations are a core part of what we do. We handle the data, the redirects, and the custom theme as one project, so launch day is a relaunch rather than a downgrade.

Migrations We Handle

We’ve moved stores onto Shopify and Shopify Plus from every major platform. Each one has its own quirks, so we keep dedicated playbooks for the common sources:

WooCommerce to Shopify

Full data transfer with subscription and SEO continuity. A custom theme built during the migration, so you leave the maintenance overhead of WordPress behind without losing what was working.

Magento to Shopify

Enterprise replatforming from Magento 1, Magento 2, or Adobe Commerce. Multi-store setups, B2B catalogs, and custom module replacements, mapped to standard Shopify or Shopify Plus.

BigCommerce to Shopify

Options, modifiers, and B2B price lists carried across cleanly, with a full redirect map so your organic traffic comes with you.

Why Replatforming Goes Wrong

Most failed migrations share the same root cause: the team treated it as a data export rather than a rebuild. Redirects get skipped or done in bulk without checking what’s actually indexed. Custom functionality gets discovered halfway through the build instead of during the audit. The theme gets ported as-is, so the new store performs no better than the old one.

We front-load the risk. The audit is where we find the messy parts (the custom checkout logic, the one integration nobody documented, the product type that doesn’t map cleanly) before they can derail a launch. By the time we cut over, there are no surprises left.

FAQs

Will my SEO and rankings survive the migration?

With proper redirect work, yes. We build a one-to-one 301 redirect for every indexed URL and carry over titles, meta descriptions, and structured data. Most migrations recover ranking within 2 to 4 weeks.

Which platforms do you migrate from?

Most often WooCommerce, Magento (including Adobe Commerce), and BigCommerce. We've also moved stores off Squarespace, Wix, and custom-built platforms. If you're on something else, ask and we'll tell you honestly how clean the move will be.

How long does a migration take?

A standard migration runs 6 to 12 weeks depending on catalog size and custom functionality. Enterprise migrations with B2B and multi-store can run longer. We give you a milestone schedule with dates before kickoff.

Do you rebuild the theme or reuse the old design?

We build a custom theme as part of the migration rather than billing it separately afterward. A migrated default theme rarely does a real catalog justice, so launch day becomes a genuine relaunch rather than a like-for-like copy.

What happens to apps and custom code from my old platform?

Each one gets evaluated during the audit. Some have direct Shopify app equivalents. Some need a custom replacement built as a Shopify app or Function. You get a full map before kickoff, so nothing becomes a surprise during launch week.
